Pray During the Loneliness and Happiness Of Life

Some people only pray and turn on their faith during difficult times, and forget God when things are going well for them. But there are others too who only pray to God on good times, because that is the only time they remember God since they have something to be thankful for. When they are lonely, they stop praying because they don’t feel God in their life anymore. Catholics must pray constantly, whether we are gleeful or depressed. “Pray at all times in the Spirit.” (Ephesians 5:20)

In lonely moments, we try to find consolation with our family and friends. When things that occur are painfully hard to understand, we tell our feelings to our loved ones, in the hopes they can give meaning to all these. But what we overlook is that it is God who can give the best answers, through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit when we pray.

Throughout the time we are lonely, we should use this opportunity to be closer with Jesus. And this can only be attained, similarly in regular friendship, if we spend enough time with Jesus is prayer. We should not waste time on this saddest period in our lives without getting to know Jesus more. God is all we really have. Praying is all we can do. Worldly activities such as partying or drinking, going out with peers, and shopping offer short-term solutions. But after the action, you’d feel empty again. When you pray, you are not alone, because Jesus is already suffering with you. Your soul also earns merits for salvation.

Our Blessed Mother, her Angels, and the faithful Saints are there for us likewise, if we ask for their intercession. We should also pray for the ones who have caused our sorrows, like our enemies, for we can do nothing with what they have done to us. It is God who would deal with them and give justice to you.

Together, we pray that those among us who are going through loneliness may be comforted.
