Prayer Petitions For February 8, 2020

We give glory to the one God—Father, Son and Holy Spirit—and in our weakness we pray:
Lord, be with your people.

Holy Lord, Father all-powerful, let justice spring up on the earth,
— then your people will dwell in the beauty of peace.
Lord, be with your people.

Let every nation come into your kingdom,
— so that all peoples will be saved.
Lord, be with your people.

Let married couples live in your peace,
— and grow in mutual love.
Lord, be with your people.

Reward all who have done good to us, Lord,
— and grant them eternal life.
Lord, be with your people.

Look with compassion on victims of hatred and war,
— grant them heavenly peace.
Lord, be with your people.

Thursday Gospel Reflection: On Letting Go
One of the Gospels this week narrates how Jesus sends out the Twelve to carry out the ministry He has started. At the same time, Jesus gives them very specific and rather ‘unusual’ instructions — to bring with them only a walking stick, and to shake the dust off their feet in places where they find themselves unwelcome. In this 2018 Post, My Reflection briefly explores what those instructions practically mean to us as Catholics in present day, and how such directives from the Lord can spiritually guide us in our life journey.
